Indications
Acute heart failure
Acute pulmonary edema
Edema of Heart failure,renal disease, liver disease
Hypertension
When need rapid action
Caution
Children : not > 6 mg/kg/d
May aggravate fluid loss in vomiting, diarrhoea, profuse sweating
Pregnancy : avoid if possible
Lactation : passes on to the baby
Elderly : lowest possible dose used. dose gradually titrated up. monitor electrolytes
Method of administration
Oras : Tablets Onset of action : 1 hour
IM/IV injection Onset of action 5 min

Postural hypotension
Electrolyte abnormalities

Interactions
Synergism with antihypertensives
NSAID - increased nephrotoxicity
Digoxin - enhances digitoxicity
Aminoglycosides - increased ototoxicity
